Youth
At Kings Church we have a large and vibrant group of young people aged between 11 and 18. We enjoy meeting together on Sundays, both with the whole church for worship and as a wider age group for teaching, games and activities.
At other times in the week we meet in 2 distinct groups, school years 7 to 9, and school years 10 to 13, where we can discuss and do activities more relevant and appropriate to specific age groups.
Sundays As the youth are a vital part of the whole church we join with the wider church for worship after which we go to our own meeting for school years 7 to 13. This is a fast-moving and lively programme of Bible truths, stories, sketches, games and discussion. Here the young people are encouraged to discuss their thoughts about Bible verses and their application to their everyday lives. Our focus is to develop young people who have a strong personal relationship with Jesus, a good understanding of the Bible and a genuine desire to live radical Christian lives, which is why we call this group R4J (Radical 4 Jesus).
Midweek Meetings
School Years 7, 8 & 9 - Attitude We have a lively young people’s group for those in school years 7 to 9 which meets each Friday night. Every two weeks they meet as a large group for games, table tennis, play station, snooker and crafts. There is a tuck shop and plenty to keep everyone as busy as they want to be. At least once every term we all go out for an activity like Laser Hub, swimming or ice skating. On the other weeks we meet in small groups (of about 4 or 5) for Bible Study, teaching and discussion.
School Years 10 - 13 – TNT TNT, short for Thursday Night Thing, meets every Thursday night. On alternate weeks we meet for games, activities and to discuss Christian topics and issues. At least once every half term we all go out for an activity like Laser Hub,
swimming or ice skating. On the other weeks we meet in small groups (of about 4 or 5) for Bible Study, teaching and discussion.

Camps and Activities We love doing activities together, weekends away and weeklong camps.
Days Out All schools have inset days or teacher training days which can prove challenging for child care. With this in mind, and because we enjoy spending time with young people we seek to provide ‘Days Out’ on these days off when we might go to a theme park, museum or see a show.
MayCamp usually happens on the first bank holiday weekend in May. Last year we went to Southend on Sea where we enjoyed teaching, worship and fun activities including all the fantastic facilities at Adventure Island and traditional fish and chips. On Sunday morning we joined the local church then ended the weekend by hosting our own ENCOUNTER, youth worship event, for youth groups from the area.
NewDay We attend the NewDay youth event organised by Newfrontiers each August. It’s a week of camping, teaching, worship, evangelism, social action and lots of laughs. Places for Newday 2012 can be booked online at the KCH Shop here: www.kchshop.org.uk/youth.
