Our Faith in Action Packing Group is one of many groups across the country that meet to pack good quality second-hand clothes to send to those in need in Africa.
This group started meeting in 1990. We meet regularly to pack good-as-new clothes, shoes and bedding to send to needy people in Malawi. Most villagers in Malawi only possess one set of clothes that are worn until they fall apart.
Donated clothes are washed, ironed, labelled and packed into apple boxes and then sent to Malawi in shipping containers. We have links with church leaders there who distribute the clothing in the rural villages according to need. On one occasion a customs officer became a Christian after seeing the quality of the clothes and hearing about the love that motivated these gifts.
The King’s Church Packing Group has packed over 1,700 boxes since it started. About a dozen people meet fortnightly to pack the prepared clothes. We are always looking
for new people to join us. It is a great way to make new friends too!
How you can get involved:
. Donate your good-as-new clothes, shoes and bedding
